Melody Moore returns to Washington National Opera this November, for the world premiere of the revised version of Philip Glass’ Appomattox. This new production, directed by Tazewell Thompson, recognizes the 50 years since the Voting Rights Act and 150 years since the end of the Civil War. The cast includes Tom Fox as Abraham Lincoln/Lyndon B. Johnson, Soloman Howard as Frederick Douglass/Martin Luther King Jr., and David Pittsinger as Robert E. Lee/Edgar Ray Killen, with Dante Santiago Anzolini leading the Washington National Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Performances take place November 14, 16, 18, 20, 21 & 22 at the Kennedy Center.
Ms. Moore also sings two roles in WNO’s Ring Cycle later this season; Freia in The Rhinegold and Ortlinde in The Valkyrie.
