Debut at the Houston Symphony

On October 4, 5 and 6, Melody Moore makes her first appearance at the Houston Symphony for an intense evening of music by Mendelssohn and Mahler. She sings the soprano solo in Mahler’s staggering first masterpiece, Das klagende Lied, written when he was just 18—music that beckons us close to whisper ancient tales of gleaming castles, noble knights and magic flutes. The other soloists for the piece are Sasha Cooke, Toby Spence and Günter Haumer.

Then, in Die erste Walpurgisnacht, Goethe’s text ignites the fire of Mendelssohn’s imagination in a celebration of spring that sees Druids dance and bonfires burn. Andrés Orozco-Estrada leads the performances.
