Following her 2013 performance as a Tosca who “delivers on all the hype…” at Madison Opera, Melody Moore returns to the city, this time for a series of concerts with the Madison Symphony Orchestra. She is the soprano soloist for three performances of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and is joined by contralto Gwendolyn Brown, tenor Eric Barry, and bass Morris Robinson, with Maestro John DeMain and the Madison Symphony Chorus. Performances take place May 8, 9 & 10 at the Overture Center.

House and role debuts in Madama Butterfly at Opéra de Montréal
Melody Moore will make her role debut as Cio-Cio-San in Puccini’s heartrending classic, Madama Butterfly next season at Opéra de Montréal, which will also be her debut with the company. Performances take place September 19, 22, 24 & 26, and also feature Alexey Dolgov as Pinkerton, Morgan Smith as Sharpless, and Allyson McHardy as Suzuki. The production is staged by renowned director François Racine, with Maestro James Meena leading the Orchestre Métropolitain and the OdM chorus.
Debut at Lyric Opera of Kansas City in Tosca
Melody makes her house debut at the Lyric Opera of Kansas City this spring in one of her signature roles, the title heroine in Puccini’s romantic tragedy Tosca. Ms. Moore has previously performed the role to great acclaim, in an “ideal” and “convincing” portrayal at the San Francisco Opera in 2012, and one that “delivers on all the hype” at Madison Opera in 2013.
The cast also features James Valenti as Mario Cavaradossi and Gordon Hawkins as Baron Scarpia, in a new production directed by Garnett Bruce, with Ward Holmquist leading the orchestra and chorus. Performances take place April 18, 22, 24 & 26 at the spectacular Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
